CASA of Philadelphia trains and supports community volunteers to advance the welfare of children in foster care through effective advocacy.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Philadelphia trains members of the community to advocate in family court for neglected and abused children. Our CASA volunteers are trained to become advocates to make best-interest recommendations for foster children while they are in care. CASA also trains volunteers to be Education Decision Makers (EDM). An EDM volunteer is an individual who has been appointed by the court to serve as the legal “parent” for children in out-of-home care who do not have anyone to make educational decisions on their behalf.
