The mission of the Philadelphia Fire Department is to deliver efficient and effective fire protection aimed at minimizing the loss of life and property. Thi9s includes: fire abatement and extinguishment; comprehensive fire prevention programs conducted throughout the community, and fire investigation services to determine the origin and cause of fires. The Philadelphia Fire Department is also charged with delivering high quality prehospital emergency medical care and transportation in a timely and professional manner, accomplished by providing EMS personnel with up-to-date training in emergency medical services and utilizing state-of-the srt equipment.
