Opportunity Details

SJM - King's Dream (in partnership with R.E.A.L. Parents x SPF)

Social Justice Matters and R.E.A.L. Parents x SPF are launching a multi-year project creating opportunities for families with school-aged (ages 5+) children in our community to share and record up to five minutes of video expressing what Dr. King’s legacy means to them today.  We will use these recordings to build an archive that we can reference to see how our community’s perspectives have changed over time.

Sample prompts include:

  • What does Dr. King’s Dream mean to you?
  • What is a conviction or belief you have that you believe is worth marching for?
  • What would you contribute to the world to earn a Nobel Peace Prize?
  • What does the idea of non-violent protest mean to you and how does it make a difference?
  • What is a topic you believe in so strongly that you would be willing to speak in front of thousands of people
  • What does justice mean to you?

Due to security requirements at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA, please note that adults 18 and over must present a government-issued photo ID. Please allow extra time to check in before your scheduled activity. Active Y members can check in with their Y key tag.

The opportunity date and time you are looking for is no longer available.
